2015 CITY ELECTION DATES AND INFORMATION:
January 27, 2015 – NOON – Last Day and Time to File for city office.
April 7, 2015 – General Election.
Positions to be voted on for April 2015 Election - 4 Year Terms
Mayor - Currently held by Glenn Fischer
Councilmember – Current Member, Dee Brown
Councilmember- Current Member, Bill Owens
Councilmember – Current Member, Darren Tynan
The city general election will be held on April 7, 2015. The Mayor and three council positions are up
for election this year. They are currently held by Dee Brown, Bill Owens, and Darren Tynan. Each
position is for a 4 year term. Council positions are "at large" and voted on by all electors of the city.
The deadline for filing for office is NOON on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. (10 weeks prior to the
election). All persons filing for positions with the City of Oswego must file their applications at
City Hall. (You can no longer file at the Courthouse). The filing fee is $5, or you can file by petition.
Since Oswego is a city of the second class, candidates who do not intend to spend an aggregate amount
of $500 must file an affidavit of such intent with the COUNTY Election Officer. If less than $500 is actually
expended, no report need be filed. If more than $500 is expended, an itemized campaign finance statement
must be filed with the county election officer within 30 days of the primary or general election.
Each person filing for office must complete the required forms and pay their fee. The forms and information
are available at City Hall at 703 5th Street. A booklet "A Guide for City Candidates: prepared by the League
of KS Municipalities is available to assist candidates at City Hall and is also available online at the League's
website www.lkm.org. If you have any questions about serving you can call the City Office at 795-4433.
March 17, 2015 - Last Day to Register to vote - If you are new to the community, have moved or have not
voted in several years you will need to register to vote.You may register to vote at Oswego City Hall or the
Labette County Clerk’s Office.
