Memorial Legacy Program

The Oswego Tree Board has been planning to improve the memorial tree program, now being referred to as the “Memorial Legacy Program.” A structure has been built that would allow name plaques to be displayed in a designated location and in a way to protect them from damage due to weather, vandalism, or even theft. Existing plaques made of aluminum are being moved to the display. This will allow family members a convenient way to locate the memorial plaque of their loved ones. Donations for the Memorial Legacy Program remain the same at $150.00. This covers the cost of planting and maintaining trees or shrubs of various sizes and species throughout the park as well as other public areas in the community, allowing for better management of the diversity, beauty and ecological structure of these areas. The cost to upgrade an existing plastic plaque to aluminum is $45.00

2017 October Annual Trunk or Treat

The Oswego Recreation Commission will have their Annual Trunk or Treat on Tues-day October 31st, 2017 at 6:30pm. Starting at the Haunted Library. THIS IS FOR CHILDREN BIRTH THROUGH 5TH GRADE.

The Business and the public are invited to participate in decorating their cars, trucks, wagons, and SUV’s and bring candy to pass out to all the children. No homemade can-dy please. There will be a $50.00 cash prize for 1st and $25.00 cash prize for 2nd place for the best decorated car, truck, wagon or SUV. Grown ups can dress in their cos-tumes as well. This is a safe and convenient way to distribute your treats. Last year we had over 400 kids participate.

We will start the walk this year in front of the Library. We will go through the Haunted Library and then come out and go in front of Dr. Mallatt’s office and go west to Commer-cial Street, then the kids will turn and go south along Commercial street on the east side then cross Commercial Street at the Sheriff’s Dept. They will then come back up Commercial Street on the West side. Once they get to 4th Street they will head back east along Denton’s and finish up in front of the Labette Avenue paper office.

All vehicles participating in the event must be set up by 6:00pm. You may park your vehicle anywhere on the Trunk or Treat route.
