Burn Ban
NOTICE: 7-17-13 BURN BAN ISSUED - THIS BURN BAN HAS BEEN LIFTED
After action taken by the LC Commissioners on July 15th, Fire Chief, Donnie Allison has issued a burn ban for Oswego residents effective 7/17/13. Please check the website, Face Book and/or newspaper for notice of when the ban has been lifted or for any additional notices or Water Watches which could be issued if the weather continues to be hot and dry.

Additional information regarding the City of Oswego's Burn Policy is provided below.
NOTICE: 9-10-12 BURN BAN LIFTED
The Labette County commissioners have lifted the Burn Ban that became effective in July 2012 and will
allow the Fire Chiefs in each city in Labette County to determine whether to lift the ban in their city.
Oswego Fire Chief, Donnie Allison, has lifted the ban for Oswego residents.
BURN POLICY - CITY OF OSWEGO
The city does have a burn policy that prohibits burning within the city except for periods in the spring or
fall for the burning of leaves. Burning of trash or garbage is NOT permitted in the city. Small limbs that
are broken up to be burned with leaves or placed in a fire pit are also permitted. No brush piles should be
burned without permission from the Fire Chief. Violations of the Burn Policy could result in fines or even
worse a destructive fire so please make sure you are familiar with the policy before you decide to burn.
