Labette County is seeking renewal of the 1% countywide sales tax in the November election.
This is a renewal of the existing sales tax, not an increase. In order for the voters to
make an informed decision, the City provides the following information. With this sales tax,
everyone who makes purchases in the county shares in the tax burden, including people from
outside the county who make purchases while passing through.

The county, as well as the cities within the county, receive this tax revenue. The City of Oswego,
receives revenue of approximately $156,800 per year. Without the countywide sales tax, this revenue
would have to be made up through property tax increases or done without.
