ORDINANCE NO.  1494

 

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1, ARTICLE 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF OSWEGO, RELATING TO MEETINGS OF THE GOVERNING BODY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF OSWEGO, KANSAS:

 

SECTION 1.  Chapter 1, Article 1-203 of the City Code is hereby amended to read:

1-203   SAME; MEETINGS. (a)  Regular meetings of the governing body shall be held on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.  In the event the regular meeting day shall fall on any legal holiday or any day observed as a holiday by the city offices, the governing body shall fix the succeeding day not observed as a holiday as a meeting day.

 

(b)       Special meetings may be called by the mayor or acting mayor, on the written request of any three members of the council, specifying the object and purpose of such meeting, which request shall be read at a meeting and entered at length on the journal.

 

(c)        Regular or special meetings of the governing body may be adjourned for the completion of its business at such subsequent time and place as the governing body shall determine in its motion to adjourn.

 

(d)       Agenda items cannot be added from the general public without a minimum five days prior notice, in order for staff to have sufficient time to gather information, unless it is an emergency item, to be determined by the mayor and staff.

 

SECTION 2.  This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, approval and publication in the official city newspaper.
