A symposium on the Life and Times of John A. Mathews will be held at the Oswego Community Center on Saturday, Sept. 17th from 2 to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will be held one day short of the 150th anniversary of the killing of Mathews by Union troops and militia.
Various speakers from the Osage Tribal Museum, Osage Mission Museum, Oswego Historical Society and Pawhuska Public Library will join a relative of Dr. George Lisle and a park ranger from historic Ft. Scott to present a very interesting program. A nationally known indian clothing maker will have several Osage Indian clothing pieces on display. Philip Blair of the Oswego Historical Society will be the moderator for this event.
